What is a church? What is an association?

Those two questions may seem simple to answer, yet a number of opinions exist. It seems that many years ago, there was a clearer understanding of the nature of a local church and how those churches are to associate. Over the years, that understanding appears to have gradually faded.

This book is intended to bring clarity to the BMA’s historical position on the nature of a local church and how associations should function, according to Scripture.

As you read this little book, you will find it to be encouraging and informative. The local church and the associational form of cooperation are not man-made, they are God-ordained. Therefore, we have an obligation to consider what God’s Word says and to pattern ourselves after what is plainly revealed in Scripture.
